Southern Costa Rica thrives with paradisaical tourist destinations worth to be visited. Here we will show you a couple of the most sought after.

Marino Ballena National Park is known for the visits of humpback whales during their travels from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere and vice versa.

Although mainly consisting of sea area, within the protected area you can find several beaches of great beauty such as Playa Bahía Uvita, Playa Piñuelas, and Playa Ballena, where sea turtles lay their eggs.

Marino Ballena National Park is located in an area of splendid scenic beauty, which beside its scientific value, bears great value for environmental education and tourist development. Within its waters you can find common dolphins, bottlenose dolphin and in the right season, humpback whales.

This protected area spans 110 land hectares and 5.375 sea hectares. It was created by Executive Decree on December 14th, 1989.

It is located in Costa Rica's Pacific coast, near Dominical, and close to hotels, restaurants and grocery stores, in addition to the bus terminals San José - Uvita and San Isidro - Uvita.

Chirripó. Chirripó National Park spans 50.150 hectares. Inside the park you can find wildlife areas such as the moor, the cloud forest, and the rainforest. It holds the tallest mountain in the country, Cerro Chirripó with 3.820 meters above sea level.

In the upper part of the park you can find 5 beautiful sites of great geological and biological importance: Sabana de Los Leones, Valle de los Conejos, Cerro Chirripó, Valle de las Morrenas and Valle de Los Lagos, where you can find Lago Chirripó.

The park protects the upper basin of Pacific Chirripó River, a tributary of the Térraba River's great basin; as well as the upper basin of Atlantic Chirripó River, main tributary of Matina river.

Nauyaca. The Nauyaca Waterfalls are one of the main attractions of Southern Costa Rica, not only for their natural scenic beauty, which provides fun and entretainment time for the tourist, but also to engage in different activities such as swimmin, climbing, sprinting and watching some of the beauties of the tropical rainforest, among others.

Nauyaca Waterfalls is the ideal place both for the visitor looking for tranquility and nature and those driven by thrill and adventure.

The Waterfalls are a landmark for adventure ecological tourism, known worldwide for their beauty and the excellent services provided. They are located on the way to Dominical, 2 km south of Platanillo Church, in Pérez Zeledón.

Manuel Antonio. This park is located in Costa Rica's Pacific coast, in the Puntarenas province.

The park is located about 157 km south of San José city, Costa Rica's capital city, and 7 km south of Quepos, between Damas and Matapalo. The park was established on November 15th, 1972 with an area of 1.983 land hectares and 55.000 sea hectares.

It is one of the most beautiful national parks in the country. It is the wild area with the highest amount of tourist visits, nationals and foreigners. Another important attraction is the tropical rainforest where endangered wildlife species, such as the Titi monkey, live.

One of its geographical features is Punta Catedral. Formerly an island, but due to the accumulation of sediment, it affixed to the continental mass, forming a sand band known as Tombolo.

The park is located in a region of heavy rainfall and tall mountains. The annual rainfall averages 3.875 mm.

Manuel Antonio National Park is located in a heavy tropical rainforest area. It protects primary forest areas, secondary forest areas, mangrove swamps, beach vegetation, and sea environments.
